About Les Short
Les Short spent thirty years at IBM, where he was a software engineer and project manager. His professional journey was driven by a technical background in electrical engineering and a degree in mathematics and computer science-disciplines that provided the analytical framework for his deep interest in the fundamental laws of nature.
A lifelong enthusiast of astronomy and physics, he has spent many years exploring astronomy, and the complexities of general relativity and quantum mechanics. His mission was to translate two of the most challenging concepts of modern physics into a language accessible to anyone with a spark of curiosity.
He decided it would be his mission to translate two of the most challenging concepts of modern physics into a language accessible to anyone with a spark of curiosity. This resulted in his book, “The Quantum and the Cosmic: The Great Divide Between General Relativity and Quantum Theory”.
As someone who has many challenges in his lifetime, he decided to share some of those experiences by writing books designed to help other people. He discovered that being happy and joyful benefited from understanding the roadblocks and then implementing solutions. This resulted in his first book, “The New Dream: A Personal Journey to Happiness”.
He also recognized - based on his experiences - that people with secular beliefs, and suffering from substance abuse, could not always turn to religion, or a belief in God, for spiritual help. This resulted in his second manuscript, “Prayers and Meditation for the Atheist and Agnostic”. It provides a more secular view of issues, and stresses that prayer and meditation are valuable tools. A new version is in the works that will expand on this idea and provide more help.
Today, he resides on the coast of North Carolina, with his wife, Linda, and their two dogs, Koba and JoJo. When he is not writing about the nature of reality, he enjoys the coastal lifestyle, whether walking on the beach, flying kites, or continuing his astronomical observations.
